Seems I'm late to catch up on what's happening yet again lol.

This Royal edition is intriguing. It could be awhile yet since the guys over at Square tell us what it is. I'd be happy if it has Year 1 and 2 updates content in it.

It would also be cool if it has exclusive content as well.

The 10 mil goal seems likely. PC and Royal edition aren't even out yet and the numbers are impressive already.

Fans have been coming up with plenty of different theories about the Pitioss ruins, but now that the DLC episodes are coming to a close are there any hints you can give players about what they mean? Will we ever get to learn more about them in the future?
One hint regarding the mystery of these ruins is that, like Steyliff Grove, they were left by the ancient civilisation of Solheim. Even the most unassuming places in Eos have a depth and a history to them, and their mysteries are waiting to be unlocked.

How did the ruins come to be so different to all of the other areas? It seems to rely on environmental storytelling more than any other area; what made you decide to present them that way?
The staff in charge of this were incredibly passionate about including this dungeon as part of the end contents. Having consistency throughout a world is a great thing, but I wanted players to be able to enjoy a dungeon made with that much passion, even if it was at the price of losing that consistency.

You’ve supported FFXV for over a year now since its release and obviously you’ve been working on it for a long time before that–how does it feel working on a single game for so long creatively?
It feels as though it’s a part of my life.

How does it feel knowing you’ll be moving on from it soon?
Thanks to my involvement with FFXV, it’s become clear to me what I need to aim for in my next project. In that sense, FFXV will remain with us (myself and the team) as a foundation for further projects.

What do you think were the most important lessons you learned from working on Final Fantasy XV?
The importance of innovation, the importance of friends… and that working too much is not good.

Is there anything you wished you had done differently during development?
I think that the results we’ve achieved are a great representation of my current ability level, so there’s nothing I regret. I just want to continue raising that level.

What was your proudest moment during development?
This is actually something that happened after the game went on sale, but it was hearing from numerous development partners that they were glad to have been able to participate in this project.

Were there any surprising or funny moments in the development process?
Noct and his party were a constant source of amusement. When the AI was still being worked on, they’d say completely unrelated things to each other, and when the animation system was still in progress, they moved around really awkwardly.

With such a long development time and period of support with additional content after the game’s release, as well as a film and other media – do you think this will be the model for other main title Final Fantasy games going forward? What do you think that will look like?
Each iteration is original and independent, so I think that each further iteration will go on to tackle different challenges.

If you had unlimited resources to make it what would your dream FF game be like?
I would separate from the developers and create a version of FF that you could play with complete freedom. You’d never know what would happen next, but each and every player would be able to enjoy it how they pleased.

The Xbox One X is currently the world’s most powerful console – but what do you think the next generation of consoles will be like?
I really don’t know. But since movies and music are already in the cloud, I imagine that games will be next.

There’s been a lot of discussion about loot boxes in the industry lately, as a developer how do you feel about them?
I don’t have anything against them. However, I do think that loot box creators need to be careful not to jeopardize their relationships with players.

A DLC chapter for Ardyn will be available during 2018.
edit: about pitioss, they added lines for when you complete/give up the dungeon; was pretty awkward before since the bros were silent.

https://www.sbs.com.au/popasia/blog/2018/01/11/final-fantasy-xv-director-hajime-tabata-future-series
Initially, I wanted to make everything open world,” Tabata tells SBS PopAsia. “However with this being our first attempt at creating an open world, we realised that would be impossible when taking into account the amount of time required in developing the technology and contents for that.”

“In game development, it’s always essential to clarify what we’re going to, or not going to, implement from both a technology and work-based perspective. So the moment I decided that we were going to make Final Fantasy XV an open world, I had to make the decision to remove Nifelheim from that open world.”

...
so there's our confirmation, i think that was the point the "one landmass map" idea was scrapped.

Holy crap that looks amazing!

So cool that we get to see older Cor.

More story cutscenes is always a good thing.

I wonder if the DLC will be integrated into the game? Or accessed separately on the main menu like it is now?

This is like seeing a Paperchampion wishlist coming to life

Holy fucking shit!

way to break the silence

Storm im actually crying....HOLY CRAP THEY ACTUALLY DID IT!!!

They expanded Insomnia! They added more ending story content! THEY ADDED MORE LORE RELATED AND SECRET BOSSES. That was like 90% of what I couldve ever wanted. God damn, if they actually do any sort of Niflheim expansion (which looks entirely possible now that they actually expanded Insomnia), I don't know how I'll react....

It also looks like they are seriously expanding the ending. They seem to also be integrating what happened in Comrades into that ending. They are also letting us use the boat (to explore between Lucis and Accordo) and there's at least one giant monster out at sea. I can't believe it. I seriously can't believe it would be anything like this.

ON TOP OF ALL THAT they still have 3 DLC episodes planned and god knows what else.

FUCK

Is this Luna behind Noctis? I think there is so much more than they showed in the trailer honestly.

I think so too. Off the top of my head, this and whatever is hiding in the water around Accordo are 2 things they specifically never reveal.

There's a possibility they combined the WoR update to take place in this Insomnia Dungeon. Maybe we'll see Iris and Aranea here as well. Or perhaps they are saving the actual WoR for something else.

God, I can't imagine if they do another update like this for Niflheim. Expanding Insomnia and making the Nifleheim transition better where the 2 big things Tabata has wanted to do the most. It seems here he achieved one, it makes me really hopeful that he'll actually do that as well.

Edit: Going to also point out that because they changed and added a new armiger mode, and that they've added all these new bosses and content, they may have revamped the
Leviathan and Ardyn fights, and hell, maybe even gave Ardyn a second form like he was supposed to have

I hope it will be sth good, and not again somekind of big cthulhu with one wing
We'll see I guess, the trailer makes it seem like you have to do much much more now to get to Ardyn with the Kingsglaive. Ifrit's fight is pretty good but Ardyn's old fight would be odd after fighting these new Bosses it seems, as it just seems so much more restricted in comparison. I'd be more surprised if they didn't update that fight specifically. I'm hopeful but honestly any of this is more than what I'd thought we'd ever get

Literally another great QoL feature. So much hidden lore but you only get to read it once and it is not stored after reading it around the world. Goddamn BD2, seriously make a Hard Mode/rebalancing and this whole thing is perfect

Edit: I wonder if we'll fight all 13 rulers. So far we get to fight 3 in that final main story quest (they are all labeled under the Cure for Insomnia), but I wonder if the rest will be encountered. Especially if beating them is what allows nocts to use them in the end

https://www.reddit.com/r/FFXV/comments/7qr5se/patch_121_coming_january_21/

"German changelog says it's adding Aranea as a training partner in the main game"

way to greatly improve the game with a minimal addition

some are speculating the stand-by option at camps is a form of time-skip.

if we end up fighting all of them, it'll be on the same battle with them interchanging; that's my bet; anyway, i wonder the rewards for winning the fight...

I wonder if the new content from the Royal Edition will be DLC, do we have to buy the Royal Edition to gain access to this new content? Also, that was pretty sweet.
