I was there at Distant Worlds this year, really nice to hear the pieces from Final Fantasy XV as well as the VII focus.

I hadn't thought about the FFXIV collaboration disappearing in XV, I assume it's still there for good if no updates have occurred.

Assuming Wan Hazmer is the only one who was part of FFXV team that is visiting Tabata at JP Games here, then it looks like more people from FFXV team have left SE and joined Tabata at JP Games. I can recognize at least a few devs here like Kenichi Shida, Yasuaki Nasu, Daisuke Motohashi plus some others, and Hasegawa we found out a few months ago had joined JP Games too.

You can see a few of them when they were at SE in this video here.

Looks like the new FFXV mobile game for China is still happening?

New Amano FFXV art too.

http://www.duowan.cn/news/423250528844.html

According to a rough google translation of the Chinese article it says the game is being made for Mobile using UE4, and the theme of the artwork is "Origin of Mythology", it also mentions the Big Bang Amano artwork and the Royal Edition Amano art as being three art pieces that are connected.

Rough Google Translation said:
"Final Fantasy 15" new work plan announced the new creation poster of Amano Hiroshi

On May 31st, the world's art and painting art, "The Final Fantasy" series of visual arts masters, Amano Hiroshi's personal art tour "White Fantasy" held a grand opening ceremony at the Shanghai Art Gallery. At the opening ceremony, SQUARE ENIX (hereinafter referred to as "SE"), Oriental Pearl New Media Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Gaya Mutual Entertainment") The three companies jointly attended and announced the joint development plan of the final fantasy series "Final Fantasy 15" mobile game for the first time. Mr. Amano Hiroshi personally wrote a new main visual poster "Origin of mythology" for mobile games. The first stunning appearance.

Right, here's what I've managed to extract from the Google Translate stuff.

Basically the three companies are cooperating on bringing Final Fantasy XV to a new audience through this mobile project. (This sounds like they're just going to be creating another version of XV for mobiles that'll be different from Pocket Edition).
The game is in production, but they're keeping it secret as far as possible and will reveal it later. As above, it's being developed using Unreal Engine 4, which they say will create something incredible to look at.
Origin of Mythology, the game's main visual, goes together with Amano's Big Bang and Royal Edition artwork into a single creative project linked by the world's themes and content.

Side note: Looking at the artwork, it's very interesting. The Crystal seems to be sprouting two giant wings on which the Astrals are riding, and a flaming tail above which Noctis, Luna and Aera are floating. Don't know what's above them. Look like waves or cliffs, or a floating fortress of some kind.

The only floating rock structures in XV I can think of are in Tenebrae, but that doesn't look to be Tenebrae, the arches may indicate it's Duscae being risen up, pried from the ground or it could be a new floating location.

If they are saying it's something that'll be incredible to look at then it does make me think they are using the actual game assets but in UE4.

wow, that art is beautiful.

if the game touches upon the origins of Eos (and if its a solid game like say Mobius or VP: Anatomia) I might even play it.

If its New Empire all over again though...
My guess is it's something akin to FF Awakening which was Type-0's China mobile game.

They could be continuing with the FF6 homages and creating a third "floating" continent beyond the Lucis and Niflheim continents. Moreover, I'm interested in how the Astrals are all positioned in the same kind of grouping. As if they were all on the same side. And it's almost like Noctis is leading them with Luna and Aera at his side. Too weird. Wonder if the game'll get an English patch or something?

My guess is it's something akin to FF Awakening which was Type-0's China mobile game.
Awakening's a good analogy. It's still canon to Type-0's world, but remains very much its own entity. It also means they can go mad with the gameplay.

I think that floating fortress might be Insomnia or the citadel from the dawn of future novel

Interesting. I remember they were looking into porting FFXV to UE4 to release it on the Switch. I wonder if this version might get released internationally on there?
