@Ilazy

Original script was already changing even during 2011 and 2013 under Nomura's reign regardless. Stop scapegoating.

[/SPOILER]
No it wasent from 2011 to 2013, the artist only said after 2013 the story was changing, and that was probably because Square forced Nomura to make it into one game at that point in development instead of the three originally planned.

Stella wasn't changed. She was cut from the game entirely. As were many other elements from Versus XIII in order have it all fit within one game. So my statement stands that Tabata's time was mostly spent truncating this game in order to meet deadlines. He didn't exactly add much to the original vision set out by Nomura. It's still Nomura's original recipe overall, just made with slightly different ingredients in order to get it out quicker by a different chef.
He added Luna a character which wasent in the original vision she had a different role than Stella. Changing who the main herione is and does is a big change up for a story imo.

Nomura's been building to an ending where the protagonist

fulfills a prophecy in which he uses the light of the heart of the World to wipe out the corruption that's turning humans into monsters and messing with the stars to renew the world

in Kingdom Hearts for close to a decade.

(If not a decade and a half, given the whole "You are the one who will open the door to the light" thing from the first game.)

And given certain things I've heard about as-yet-untranslated portions of Chi/Unchained Chi, Sora's opposite number might also end up being

the ancient being responsible for that corruption in the first place.

Say what you will about Tabata's reputation, but XV and KH are Half-Identical Twins. =P
I doubt that Nomura would've
Killed of the main characters tho

ferrari said 2013 not after, the story was already changing with nomura in charge (noctis and stella meeting as kids is the obvious evidence).

edit:

more bits about Aranea, Biggs and Wedge: "Aranea is the first important character that I realized when i joined the team. Together with her, there were also the two comrades Biggs and Wedge but they have not been made as I thought. In my design, the two had a suit of armor in theme with that of Aranea."

Nomura's been kept on Disney's leash every time he directed a game, and yet he's had characters sacrifice themselves, cease to exist as independent beings, cease to exist at all, have even the fact that they existed in the first place erased, go into a decade-long coma, and get stuck in the local equivalent of purgatory for a decade, among other things.

I don't think he'd ever leave Sora dead, but mass death and rebirth? Yeah, I can see that.

And, in any case, Noct isn't Sora. I have no doubt he was doomed regardless of who directed his game, what with the things Nomura was saying about Versus all the way back in 2006.

EDIT:
Nomura: The current plot is truly very sad. It can be said that pain is from not having any bonds, but it is also the feeling that comes from a tragic story. There will likely not be a love relationship in the story, and if there is it is not what you will imagine. (laughs) You are probably thinking that instead of love it is friendship, but that is not to say there are no female characters. Simply that the main drive of the start is bonds and the pain that accompany them. That is the true nature of pain.

Kitase: Just now you mentioned that "FFVersusXIII" faces the challenge of being identified with the numbering. It is adventurous isn't it. It is something that I've been wanting to do but has not been possible until now. With a game it is often thought to create a conclusion which can be continued. On the other hand we seldom think of how refreshing it can be to have a climax that will remain concluded.

Nomura: After the announcement, there were many questions about the dark hero characteristic of the story, but it is not something so cool. It is not the case where the entire story and all the characters are completely dark. The story contains pain, but that is a realistic part of the expression between the characters and the hero as part of friendship. The story tells of companions who spend time together and the happiness they share each day as well as the heavy responsibilities they carry.

Kitase: Even thought it is a tragedy, there should be some hope somewhere.

thanks for posting ikkin, i remember reading that interview but never found it again.

"What made you set the worldview as a modern era?

Nomura: There were plans of a modern era before. In the original plot of "FFVII" it was set in the modern era. Since it ended up not being used, I personally embraced the idea of a "FF set in the modern era" and decided to take it as a challenge."

unused idea inspired Versus and ultimately XV, ironical lol.

edit:

there's ppl saying FFXV is a totally different game tho, despite having same characters, worldview, concepts... mostly of what we knew about Versus is in the game.

Well, what people think of Versus XIII itself is vastly light-years different from the actual Versus XIII. ;P

And look at Final Fantasy XV: do you see hope in that game? Everyone dies in the end. Ardyn wins. Everyone sacrificed themself for Noct. And he sacrificed 10 years from his life to die like a puppet. Sorry but this game is utterly depressing.

Nomura isn`t the guy that kills everyone off!!

Everyone is asking to fill up the story.

Give us Episode Luna. give us that and give us that.....for?

Why should I care to play as them if they all are gona die LOL

For example....look at FF type 0

Every time you summon an Astral the one who summons dies......the ending of type 0 and FFXV left me like when i watched texas chainsaw massacre......why did I even played those games!!! no hope no gain no satisfaction nothing!

Tabata should not return to ps vita games no he should return to mobile games!

No he did cut stuff out of the original script but he also changed alot of stuff one was removing stella
View attachment 642
Also he changed Regis's story and character model and Im sure the ending was mostly his doing to since its simualar to his other games.
Jep Tabata loves to do an chain reaction Seppuku to the whole main cast, on every game he worked

FFXV is, like, the definition of a tragedy that still provides hope.

Whether Noct's friends survive is a matter of interpretation, but there's less of a reason to believe they died than that humanity was wiped out at the end of FFVII, and we all know how that went.

Ardyn only "wins" in the sense that his bitterness seems to have left him in his dying moments and he accepted his fate. He certainly failed to subvert the prophecy the way he wanted.

And while Noct does submit to divine will and offer himself as sacrifice, the world itself is renewed by it, and he's able to join Luna in the afterlife.

As for Nomura... have you played 358/2 Days or Birth by Sleep? Have you seen where Chi is leading? Or the interview quote where Nomura said he had to change the ending of 3D to be more hopeful because Disney didn't like his first concept? The guy loves him some depressing endings. =P
