Besides, everything Nomura's directed so far have had two signature elements --

villains who have a personal relationship with one or more of the main characters and enjoy making them uncomfortable and a favorable stance towards Christian iconography that results in it appearing in various ways throughout his works. Ardyn is a lot like (Advent Children) Sephiroth, who's a lot like Xehanort's Heartless, who's a lot like Marluxia, who's a lot like Maleficent, who's a lot like Xehanort. The Starscourge is a lot like a cross between Geostigma and the Heartless. Advent Children references baptism, Kingdom Hearts talks about sin and an individual who's actually three people, and FFXV ends with a close parallel to the Crucifixion.

It's very, very strange to me that no one who claims to be leaking information on the game realizes how much of Nomura's influence remains in the game as it presently exists or even attempts to craft a story that includes the recurring elements in Nomura's works. =P

Completely agree, and I'm saying this as someone who likes dark, gritty and tragic themed stories as a preference over "happy and cheery" stuff.

I loved the old Versus concept but these leaks are so out there and nonsensical that I can't help but think that someone is intentionally toying with the fan base to rile stuff up for shits and giggles.

The only time I'll ever believe anything is via an official announcement.

Otherwise I'm not even going to bother to put my hopes into something to risk feeling disappointed over nothing.

It's interesting to note that both Noctis and Ardyn were "crucified" in a way.

Christian iconography indeed. Very different characters but they both got the short end of the stick and had to die and/or be self sacrificing for the betterment of the world.

It once again reinforces that the notion of Versus fanboys knowing nothing about Versus XIII itself despite claiming otherwise.

Completely agree, and I'm saying this as someone who likes dark, gritty and tragic themed stories as a preference over "happy and cheery" stuff.

Same here. >_>; There's a difference between "dark, gritty and tragic themed stories" and grimdark nonsense, and the only way I'd ever believe that Versus was aiming at the latter is if we were told as much by a known quantity (though it could be through an unofficial channel -- I believe Ferrari, for instance).

I'd argue that Ardyn is more of an Adam than anything -- he wanted something good but was disobedient in trying to get it, and he ended up cursing humanity because of that.

Noctis, on the other hand... the parallels are practically Aslan-level, and The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe is a full-on allegory. XD; I'm working on a video about this, but some of the most telling connections in my mind are the focus on obedience in the face of suffering (in spite of an explicitly-shown desire to avoid it), the conflation of kingship with sacrifice (i.e. the throne serving as an altar for sacrifice), the role of the father in simultaneously withholding support and acting to carry out the sacrificial act, and the imagery of the victorious king as bridegroom.

Pretty much. It seems like a lot of people are more attached to the idea of a "dark and gritty FF" than they are to the revealed aspects of Versus itself. =/

Well, I'm not saying they imitated Yoko Taro well. XD; I'm just saying that he's the one guy at Squenix who's known for being simultaneously super dark and super weird. Didn't one of his games have an ending where the world was taken over by demon babies or something?

Drakengard/Drag-On Dragoon Ending D. It made sense within the context of the game. Again, unlike all these Versus fanfic leaks.

You know Versus XIII should have just stayed as Versus XIII, directed by Nomura, no compromises, no cuts, and if it needed sequels let their be sequels instead of the condensation into 1 game, then after Kingdom Hearts 3, FF7 Remake, or better yet if they really had to switch directors, they should have just done what I've said here, except Tabata would be directing, so that Nomura could do the FF7 Remake, then after KH3 is done, have Nomura do part 2 of Versus XIII or something. Then these things wouldn't be happening. Then have XV be something else entirely like Agni's Philosophy or something directed by Ito.

More Versus rumors hitting 4chan. Hard to follow but I believe it's from a new poster but claims to be getting information from the original guy who leaked the first XV plot details. Claims this story will be used for a Nomura Versus reboot and was part of his negotiations for taking on VIIR

What's more interesting is this guy is claiming the leaker sent him some concept art, concept footage/music or something and will post it.

Probably fake but it reads rather professionally.

Ok so I don't get what's going on here is this supposed to be the story of that XV spin-off game or something, cuz I'm reading the post and I don't see much of anything, I mean is the OP the same guy that said this

That was for Drakengard, which was a truly disturbing game. I'm not talking edgy for the sake of being "cool, dark, and mysterious" either.

The themes in there aren't for the light hearted. Makes the Versus fanfic rumours that's been popping up look like light reading material for children, no exaggeration.

I hope the Gladio expansion comes with updates for the base game. Also hope it unlocks extras such as additional skill unlocks or skins/costumes for Gladio.

Far stretch(considering how they consistently don't give what people actually wnlant)but I hope as we complete each characters expansions, it unlocks them as switchable characters to take control of in the base game.

What I've bolded in your comment is actually happening.

Gladio will be playable in ch13, with more story cutscenes regarding Ravus and Iedolas being added in too.

I guess you can say they have been listening to feedback and are slowly adding it into the game.

The enthusiasm is great, however I do think it's worth it to wait a little longer before doing a new game plus playthrough from start to finish since there is a lot more to come.

Episode Prompto is out in June, and I have a feeling more base game updates may be added then too.

If you're eager to see the new updates they're adding, you could reload an old save file that is near ch13 and take it from there? That's what I'm doing.

Either that or wait it out for a little longer until all the character episodes are out. Up to you in the end though. These are just friendly suggestions

yep, i'm waiting for more updates, the new added cutscenes might be short and it could be underwhelming to replay the game just for them; also i bet the experience to clear the game again with all the new content spread in the game will be gratifying (might as well play the dlc in between the main story).

Anyone else think they might also make another playable segement with Ignis and Prompto in the base game, like Gladio? I kinda doubt they'd stop there in regards.

Worst game of all time, absolutely not, it is not even remotely close to the level of terrible that is Mindjack, but it does have some of the most wasted potential I've ever seen though.
