Shortcut.

HYPE.
Three things really stood out for me - the brief interaction between Ardyn and Luna ;Ravus' concern for Luna's fate; and a small thing at the very end when the Ring of the Lucii begins to glow, and Noctis is slumped forward on his throne as if asleep... or dead.

Damn older Noctis is fine.

Very good trailer indeed. Makes the wait all the more painful.

Damn.. Ravus choked Noctis and from the looks of things, he could very easily crush Noctis physically. He's a huge dude!

That trailer sent shivers down my spine! Those points stood out for me too:
  • Now we know what happened just before Ardyn slapped Luna. Also, he wasn't affected by the ice and snow in that one scene.
  • I thought the Ravus and Luna were estranged because of how they interacted in Kingsglaive. But now we see that Ravus does seem to care for her well-being. Also, those blue flowers pop up again - a whole field of them!
  • If you pause at the right times when the Ring of Lucii glows, you see the symbols for Lucis and some of the Royal Arms, but the Trident popped up the most. And yeah, seeing Noctis slumped like that makes me worried.

I noticed the royal arms too, and the Lucis symbol. Following this, I think Ravus' resentment of Lucis and Regis seems to be making more sense: if he found out that Luna's life was being imperiled by the fulfillment of Noctis' destiny, he would grow to resent them for following the path set for them by whatever higher being created the crystal.
That scene between Luna and Ardyn (an incomplete translation hints that she's asking him to return to peace, or to slumber) makes me think he may be strongly connected to (maybe even the renamed equivalent of a l'Cie) or the physical form of an Astral. That's what people are saying these days about both Ardyn and Gentiana (developers confirmed that she doesn't physically age).

Wouldn't that be a fal'Cie (or whatever the FNC term was)? Nice hypothesis about Ravus. I wonder if we'll see him in the hood..?

fal'Cie and their direct equivalents are the beings created by the gods as their servants in the mortal world: l'Cie are those who serve them, chosen from among the human population. In XIII, l'Cie were mortal, but in Type-0 part of the deal was that they were granted immortality as long as they continued to fulfill their purpose. Since XV uses the basic mythos and design of FNC sans branding and terminology, I was assuming that (if it is the case) Ardyn and Gentiana were humans granted immortality and some degree of magic to serve the world's deities, and perhaps Ardyn is trying his own form of rebellion as he is allied with Niflheim, whose drive against magic falls in line with forces such as the Sanctum rebels in XIII and Milites in Type-0.

I'm reminded of the strong parallel I noticed between the different focus of magical forces. The Goddess in the Genesis painting is focusing her blessing upon the human "true king", who is driving back daemons and Astrals alike. The Astrals are focused on protecting the natural world (parallel with what Pulse's servants did) while the Crystals appear to have been focused on influencing civilization (equivalent to the servants of Lindzei). We already know that the world is overseen by a pantheon, so I wouldn't be surprised to learn that the Goddess depicted in Lucis is the one deity whose actually rooting for humanity.

Nice theory - it definitely holds more weight than just "Ravus hating Regis because he killed his mother."

That really reminds me of FFX with Yuna performing the Sending.

I do remember, but back then I knew for sure that he was sleeping! Lol

He's got good range, so a deeper or older voice isn't a problem for him.
He actually said (in two separate interviews afaik) that, when they started recording ED (first thing they ever did), they still hadn't decided Noctis' age. Which is either a misunderstanding or something very weird, as young Noctis doesn't really look like a guy that could be in his 30s. And yeah, I think he said that he grows also in how his voice changes and he definitely has range. He seems like a great guy, and I'm really liking his acting in XV (haven't seen him in anything else, I think). Still playing in Japanese, at least the first time.

Actually, talking about this and considering this is a thread for the story and all that: have you guys noticed that Old Noctis doesn't have red eyes during Chapter 0? Or maybe I'm blind (the intense heat that deforms visibility doesn't certainly help), but it seems like he has his regular blue ones.

So maybe he doesn't permanently have them like in the CG render, or that happens later on. Perhaps when he uses the exploding ring after sitting in his throne (which would make sense, as he appears, in the render, with the formal suit and not the King cloak).

Edit: actually, Chapter 0 is him without the ring. So I'm guessing that this trailer scenes with him on the throne are after fighting Ifrit, as it seemed.

We've seen Noct with the ring before the timeskip, so if he's missing it in Chapter 0, he'd have had to have lost it at some point either way. For all we know, the reason he doesn't have the ring in Chapter 0 might be because of whatever he did when the ring exploded everything.

The only thing I can find in relation to voice sounds is a comment from Tabata that the English recording for ED was done and he felt it didn't suit the character, but it was too late to re-record.

We can't even be sure Chapter 0 isn't like the "Omen" trailer, a kind of weird premonition of what might happen.
