I'd really like them to go and just announce something about VIIR, or even a whole new game (that isn't mobile or Dissidia-esque nostalgia, of course)!
That would be most welcome. I too, am looking forward to FF7R but based on what I've heard about KH3 and the remake being quite awhile away, I'm not gonna go in expecting too much :(

I hope they'll talk about updates before jan.31, im fucking impatient. And all this stuff about roadmap updates and new expansion is such a tease. :(
The Carnival is out on the 24th so they'll probably drop a bit of news on the day too hopefully?

Well, one thing we can say for sure about SE is that they know how to preheat that oven quite well xD

Its a great game but goty... I think a game that was actually completed shouldve gotten it instead.
if the game is praised even unfinished, that shows how strong the core concepts of the game really are.

many great "complete" titles (supposedly because you really don't know their development history) released this year are only refined versions of the same formula, FFXV brings a fresh experience, it's creative and original in many ways, for many ppl this holds more value.

Yeah. I don't mind post-launch additions, but I'd rather the devs were more thorough with bugs and glitches and such with both PC and consoles. I've seen too many stories over the past year or two of highly necessary day-one patches and subpar PC ports.

This is so true. This year brought many great games, but the formula did not change at all. It was the same thing as it was for the last decade. Uncharted, same formula as the rest of the series, didn't tackle anything besides visuals. Battlefield One... just another BF game. CoD... ... well CoD never changes. Overwatch did rehash an old formula and it worked really well, but it's an empty game that only increases your salt levels.

Pokemon did a new formula that it's normally known for, but it's not exactly new, but it did bring a fresh flavor to the series. It is a fact that FFXV attempted a new formula that has barely been touched in the industry, it may have not worked out 100%, but it did deliver a enjoyable game.

I wouldn't say Uncharted didn't change anything -- it skewed way more heavily towards smaller scale environmental storytelling set pieces than its usual blockbuster flair, to the point that it was somewhat controversial with fans, and it basically revolved around finding an appropriate work-life balance. xD;

And, on the other hand, FFXV took advantage of a familiar formula, too (ie open world). It just implemented it in a way that demands that people accept it on its own unusual terms (the way an indie title might) much of the time, which is really weird in an environment where AAA games generally try to streamline themselves as much as possible.

Just took a sneak peak at the xv gamefaqs board in one topic over this.

The salt is fucking real. Even the goalposts hold zero water LOL.

Let me guess -- FFXV versus the ghost of Versus XIII? They've kind of run out of other games to pit it against. XD

I do have to give GameFAQs this, though -- ~23.5k people is actually a pretty big sample size. Of course, I imagine their userbase skews heavier towards Japanese games and RPGs than the average consumer (but Pokemon would have shared those same benefits).

Very nice. It goes to show that, although not perfect, FFXV is taking the FF franchise in the right direction.

Cosplay material data for Noctis/Luna/Glauca (good luck with him lol) have been released.

There will be a special TV broadcast (JP only) that will go into the development studio for FFXV with some behind the scenes insight. Airs on Saturday 2:30am~3:00am JST. Yes that's right, in the freakin' morning. Wtf.
I'm guessing they weren't able to secure a time slot on prime time. Then again it's expensive af to do that.

I'm sure some hardcore fans would still stay up to watch it.

If I lived in Japan I definitely would :p

Broadcast has started on the TVTokyo channel. The broadcast is in 2 parts, with the first part covering a completely different story on the Japanese singer Anly. After that will be the FFXV coverage.
