Square Enix is hosting a big show like Sony and all of them, something they haven't done in several years. If they don't show Final Fantasy VII Remake, what the hell do they need the stage for?
Thy are not having a ''stage show''. They are having a livestream only.

How will I be able to watch the Square Enix E3 Showcase 2018?
Please tune in here to watch it on your preferred livestreaming platform.

Will there be a physical venue to experience Square Enix E3 Showcase 2018?

I knew there wouldn't be a trailer at E3. There was nothing at their own or Sony's conference. They must be waiting for another event closer to an actual release date.

I wouldn't be too worried. It makes sense that Kingdom Hearts III would be the focus as a flagship title. That just means the chance of a reveal at TGS or Jump Festa is much higher.

Ugh, initially announcing external development before pulling away years later was a huge mistake. They should have went internal dev from the beginning, are they even 40-50% done at this point?

Even if they did a TGS/PGS announcement theres little chance the game itself will show up in 2019 either way.

I think my favorite part of about all of this is the FFVIIRemake reddit losing their collective shit yesterday(mostly due to baiting by an "inside" source). There were technically no promises made that Square was going to show FFVII yesterday or at E3 in general. And I feel like the community is acting as if that it's not going to be shown at all this year and making assumptions that just because something isn't shown that it's in "development hell". I feel like a good portion of the community, likely the most vocal, do not understand how a gaming pipeline works. Logically, why would they show FFVII when KH3 was finally just given a release date and has been in production since 2013? Why would they overshadow one of their major IPs? Finally, we as a community should learn from what happened when Tabata took over FFXV. One of the biggest complaints and issues was how much stuff was cut and we only knew this was because Tabata's need to show constant updates/ trailers. Nomura knows what he is doing, not showing anything till things are more finalized is a good thing. Look at KH3 as a prime example, he didn't really start showing anything until last year and didn't start producing major trailers until 9 months before it's release. The FFVII is going to be released for PS4 likely at the end of 2019 or mid 2020. It probably won't be finish until 2023 and will be a transition FF title for the PS5 like how FFXIV was.

Bethesda teased 2 ESO games despite focusing on Fallout 76.

its been 3 years since the announcement and absolutely nothing relevant came out about FFVIIR, its bullshit.

To further play devil's advocate maybe Disney wasn't okay with their collaboration being overshadowed by another major IP. You can't compare Bethesda is Square, they are an entirely different animal in the way they treat their IPs. Again, just because it wasn't shown at this one event doesn't mean it won't be shown later this year. For all we know it could be shown at the next gaming event. Remember how when they first announced FFVII, it immediately got an extended trailer the following event, which no one was expecting?

From November:

Unless TGS or later means anything there was little reason for them to skip out on E3 like this. :/

You have some good points there but overall, I think you're being a little too kind here.

SE's 'presentation' was a shit show. It was ''okay'' at absolute best.

As far as KH3 goes, this argument kinda gets thrown out the window because you're suggesting that someone won't buy KH3 because they've seen a trailer for FFVIIR, which could be released any time within the next 2 - 5 years. Your argument would hold weight if they planned on releasing FFVIIR close to the KH3 release date, which we know is the Mount Everest of unlikely scenarios - So yeah, that reason doesn't stack up at all. Games with no release dates don't effect ''gaming pipelines'' and marketing scheduling.

Nobody wants a constant drip feed of information, but a small update after 3 years isn't exactly too much to ask for, nor it is an unreasonable expectation for it to appear at E3. SE have been historically crap at managing peoples expectations, and yes I know that if we didn't hype it all up and expect stuff, we wouldn't be disappointed, but equally, don't announce a damn game and then show absolutely nothing for 3 years and not expect your fan base to be a little pissed off.

SE should have at least made a statement saying no FFVIIR details will be shown at E3, but if they did that, their stream viewer number would've probably been half that of what it was.

SE aren't stupid. They knew that someone would flag the Airbuster photo on their careers page and go with a theory that it's a little E3 teaser, because that stuff doesn't happen by accident. You don't just allow an unseen screenshot to be released by accident - And if it was, it would've been taken down. They knew their 'scratchy' E3 background would spark some conversations about FFVIIR as it totally fits that games style, and none others.

So I think you can forgive the fans for being a little hacked off with SE here because they clearly knew what they were doing.
