interesting to note how much of that is in the final product, an aspect that was barely shown in the Versus/early XV trailers but mentioned by Nomura.
i imagine both teams had a hard time trying to mesh the tragic tone to this light-adventure with friends type of story.
I wouldn't say the Versus XIII trailers didn't have their lighthearted moments or had troubles portraying them the 2011 trailer most definitely had them, same with the 2008 trailer
It's just that the Versus trailers had a main focus on some of the badass darker aspects of it where most of it's tragedy and drama came from
While they didn't come together because of it their road trip was clearly a escape Insomnia, attain crystal, get revenge not at all like XV now there definitely would have been fun moments within the road trip it would just know when to shut up and be serious.
Neither Tabata or Nomura's team had trouble with this what they had trouble with was Square's meddling
In their attempt to make the game 1 singluar title they cut out most of the memorable darker moments from the game they exist but they exist through characters we don't give a shit about.
The XV Universe is also a mess because of this nonsense which most of, if not all of it comes from Versus XIII except stripped, altered and poorly segmented
