There is a lot of v13 hate online, I keep getting into arguments on the XV reddit when people attack me for saying Nomura's vision looked cooler in my eyes. Recently I got like 20 downvotes for saying I like the 'trash bag' costume that was modded in lol. I also think that design is cool af, and will continue saying so just to piss them off haha

This is Nomura talking about DLC and Season Pass for Kingdom Hearts 3.

“I do want to look into potentially releasing DLC after [launch], but nothing have been solidified or decided on what we want to do or what we will do,” he said. “I don’t think I’ll ever really release a season pass of sorts either, because I’m not fond of that model.

The former director of FFXV is not a fan of season pass. Truly wasted game with a potential of good story-telling.
What's the relation between him not liking season pass and FFXV being a wasted game? Your conclusion recks confirmation bias.

In fairness, the only reason why those Final Mixes happened was because of the localization time. It was 6-9 months for each game. They had more time to work on it and finish off concepts they couldnt complete by the deadline. And Square has been doing a "final mix" since FFIV it was just called International. Again due to the localization time. I think because we are now in a digital age and have the possibility of releasing a game at one time it would make sense that the International/ Final Mix model would fade out. Since KH3 release is with 4 days worldwide there isn't time to put anything extra. Also unlike Tabata he's directing two games at once, one being a multi part series. He probably wants to move on completely once the KH3 is launched. Also the only reason why we got Episodes and 2 years worth of patches was due to Tabata's story telling, or lack of. Despite Nomura being convoluted he's stories in his games are complete, anything that was added on was pure gameplay additions.

FFVII technically started the International tradition.

Despite Nomura being convoluted he's stories in his games are complete,
Back Cover and vanilla KH2 says hi.

DDD despite being positioned as a bridge to KH3 front loads anything story relevant near the end. Leaving the beginning and middle portions starved while presenting moments within them that don't amount to any proper build up or pay off.

anything that was added on was pure gameplay additions.
With KH2FM sporting nearly half an hour of new cutscenes spent on fleshing out story moments that were barely touched upon from the latter game i mentioned above, especially the Roxas encounter being a notable example.

Back Cover was not a game, it was a visual narrative that summed up KH CHI at that point of it's progress and hinted at KH3 plot. KH2 vanilla was still a complete story. The added scenes between the organization members weren't crucial to the plot. Its not like what happened in FFXV, a good example being Ifrit's existence. He was shown as the teaser in the very beginning but is not mentioned once other than through a line of a book that designated him as one of the 6. Another would be any of the DLC episodes. You have to play them to know what happens to Ignis and Prompto. You can play each vanilla KH installment and get what's generally going on. Hell, I played Kh, skip over KH: COM, then played KH2 was able to understand the story. If you wanted to know about what happened to the other Org XIII members you could look at the bestiary. Which unlike FFXV was there at launch.

I'm glad to hear this. It gives me hope for FF7 remake. DLC and season passes -specially when they are planned even before the core game is out or contain significant story beats- are a gaming sin for me.

Kingdom Hearts III sounds as if it's just going to have cosmetic DLC for keyblades and costumes from what I've seen. That's pretty standard nowadays. To act as if the game is "DLC free" is somewhat ignorant. On the flipside, the Final Mixes may seem kinda shady, but you are getting "new content" so to speak. A sizable amount as well. Plus, we here in the west actually got the Final Mix versions for cheap since they were sold as bundles with other content. Only the Japanese were subject to pay the "International Version Tax" if one were to phrase it that way. However, things have changed. I'm not sure how well a "re-release" of a game would go over nowadays in this digital and globalist age. If Nomura were going to "tweak" Kingdom Hearts III in the future, he may have to embrace a larger DLC model. Which he heavily implied within the quote that was shared previously by another user. Time will tell. Game still has more than half a year until release. Lots can change and happen within that time.

As for the VII Remake... Honestly, considering it's going to be "episodic" from mouths of the developers themselves, I bet there will be many, many lowbrow DLC practices behind the game. There's a precedent starting already. I wouldn't be surprised if things like the Golden Saucer were DLC add-ons or events a la the Moogle Festival. With such just being the tip of the iceberg.Whether or not Nomura wants it, the higher-ups will as they know this game has an extreme amount of excitement around it. Plus, it's not like people won't pay for DLC despite all the complaining on the internet. (i.e. Final Fantasy XV) Granted, it's too soon to say either way, but I'm personally keeping my expectations severely low. Square-Enix is no Falcom when it comes to trustworthiness and goodwill amongst their fanbase.

He still said he plans to do DLC post launch, which is literally all that a season pass really is anyway, a season pass is just another name for a DLC package post launch, you can not call it a season pass but it will still be post launch DLC. Your argument makes no sense at all nor does it have anything remotely to suggest "wasted potention of good storytelling". Also the fact that you are trying to leverage "good storytelling" as something KH has is extremely laughable. Even worse in that because you are literlaly forced to play a bunch of random side games just to get main story, which is worse than anything DLC could do.

Also KH2 was far more unfinished on launch than anything you could say for XV.

If you wanted to know about what happened to the other Org XIII members you could look at the bestiary. Which unlike FFXV was there at launch.
Ok then based on only you playing KH2 and nother else, who is Marluxia and Larxene? None of the DLC for XV are crucial to the main story of XV either so I don't know what that has to do with anything.

Nothing about Ifrit that they added really changes anything other than you getting more backstory for Ifrit, but hey KH instead of explaining things to do with the Organization properly in KH2 instead made some random side game that shows you everthing that happened to Roxas and how he and Axel became friends, which isn't even shown how it happened at all in KH2, nor are half of the Organization even in the main story of KH2, KH2FM added a bunch of new scenes and new bosses and content that expanded the story not any different than the Ifrit or ch13v2 or Royal Pack stuff added in XV, and the DLC in XV serve as self contained side stories the same way the "side games" in KH do, only difference is they released the XV sidestory stuff as DLC instead of as seperate games, and the reason they even justified releasing those KH sidestories as games themselves was by padding them with a ton of filler. The actual "story" amount on KH Days and ReCoded and BackCover is equal to what the three Episode DLCs for XV have, only the XV DLC is just those packed as episodes instead of padded to be like actual games.

.

You had to play Episode Ignis to find out why he was blind after Altissia. I would say it that's crucial DLC to the main story, lol. KH2 is no way a perfect execution, yet to say that a game that had one collection of add ons on after it's release which mostly had to do with localization time ( Also the added content wasn't essential, hence why It wasn't released outside of Japan for 8 years) vs a game that has had 2 years of updates which includes story alterations, a total of 9 announced DLC packs as of right now is less complete then the latter seems illogical.

which one is more complete is another issue altogether

i still would rather be able to choose which dlc i want to buy (or season pass if all the content is interesting) instead of buying the entire game again for some extra content.

edit:

but yeah using this to imply nomura is somehow more honorable than tabata is biased.

edit2:
