The weakest point of the prior Nier game for me was the combat. Outside of the boss fights, the gameplay was very repetitive and unsatisfying for me. Platinum games is pretty much eliminating that single weakness, so I am highly looking forward to this.

Q: Is there any backstory to why 2B looks (sexy) like how she does?
Taro: No I just like women.
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
In regards to regional changes/censorship, these decisions are done by regional teams of SE and otuside their control, he is not aware that anything as been done for Nier: Automata in that regard, but regardless, his stories will still suck. (lol)
The ending is gonna be crap
i love this guy

I wonder what Taro will do after this. Will he continue on with Platinum Games? Will it be on Nier again or other entry in the Drakengard series? Personally, I would love to see a remake of the original Drakengard with improved gameplay.

He mentioned the possibility of a Nier remaster should there be demand for it after Automata.

Personally, I'd love to see a DoD3 remake with better gameplay, that game was too pretty to be as bad as it was.

I think a remake would be great. But I'd also like to see some love given to Drakengards 1 and 2, maybe adjust 2 to be more in line with the tone of the rest of the series. Who knows, Automata may be successful enough to rouse interest in another Drakengard. Perhaps constructed using the Automata engine with a few tweaks to make it unique.

EDIT: Actually, continuing on from that, I've had a crazy idea as to how DOD2's endings could be expanded and shifted.
General story has a much darker tone, Eris is a permanent enemy rather than an eventual ally, Nowe is a darker character who has to confront conflicting feelings of love andd hate for Caim due to being the "child" of Furiae and Inuart, Urick possibly being gay is more overtly expressed in a crush he develops on Nowe, and Nowe's latant power as the New Breed gives him the ability to cancel out pact-like magic including genuine Pacts and the Seals; this gives Nowe the option of saving either Urick or Caim or both during the story. Now for the adjusted endings:

1; Ending A - Same as in original game (Legna dead, Seal System restored with Eris as the new Goddess), but with the added dark elements from the later novel expansion.

2; Ending B - Same as original game, with the added layer that comes from Eris and Nowe actually hating each other and being forced to work together to fight a potentially futile war with the Gods and Watchers.

3; Ending C - Same as original game, but the severing of the bonds between the Gods and Midgard doesn't just take out the Watchers and Dragons, but anyone with connected magical abilities, so Seere and Nowe both die. Eris and Manah are left alone in a peaceful yet shattered world - Manah is left broken by the loss of the man she loves (Nowe), and Eris faced with rebuilding a world that now hates the Knights of the Seals.

4; New Ending D - If Nowe saves either Urick or Caim, he discovers his power to break pacts and Seals, and events play out in a similar manner to the revised Ending B, but when he enters the Dragon's Bone Casket, it instead accepts him and he is granted powers equivalent to the Gods. Using these, he remakes the Seal System with himself as its sole guardian "God", and makes either Caim or Urick his immortal servant as he becomes the effective ruler of the Dragons and humanity. This would end with a final cutscene showing Nowe leading a successful campaign with Manah and Nowe's chosen servant against the Watchers and Gods, and even across into other realities.

5; New Ending E - If Nowe saves both Urick and Caim, during the severing of Caim's pact, Eris attacks and Manah holds her off, but a final burst of flame from the dying Angelus kills both Eris and Manah, leaving Nowe in a fragile state. Events then play out as in Ending D, but Nowe instead becomes a monstrous dragon-Watcher hybrid due to his despair at losing Manah, and Caim and Urick are forced to kill him. Legna declares the experiment a failure and chooses the lead the Dragons in a final campaign against both the Gods and humans, while Caim and Urick decide to mount a final desperate crusade against the Dragons, possibly considering allying with the Gods and submitting to their will to ensure their joint survival.

I've never played any of the Drakengard games but I'm thinking of giving 3 a chance. It's just that the gameplay seems pretty bad and I'm not sure if it's worth suffering through.

Similar to the original Nier both games have fun boss fights with their own mechanics and what not. The normal mobs, however, is very repetitive in a negative sense imo. Mr. Taro can write a story that will keep you interested though...that much is for certain. Platinum Games are literally removing the one huge weakness in his games, which is great.

The gameplay's rather poor and formulaic, and there are the framerate problems and glitches and terrible AI and... I could go on. The story and character designs are the only good thing about it. I'd look for the cutscenes/walkthrough online rather than trying wade through it yourself. If you want to try any of the core Drakengard games for yourself, then the first one is your best bet. The second ties up some loose ends from the first and has better gameplay comparatively, but it was made with a mandate from on high to tone down the Yoko elements (Yoko wasn't even involved aside from a role as video editor, and it's the stuff of legends that he and new director Akira Yasui didn't get on).

Drakengard 2 needs to be forgotten. Taro had nothing to do with it so I fail to see why it needs to be acknowledged at all or have resources wasted on it.

I believe in sticking with the original Drakengard being remastered. It's more deserving and it's what started Taro off in the game industry. If that's successful, look at either doing a Drakengard 3 "Final Mix" or continuing the franchise with Drakengard 4 (Or I guess 5 since Taro has stated that the fourth entry is "missing").

The "Drakengard 4" thing was one of his crazy ideas for DOD3. I think they'll be continuing in numerical order even if it's all over the place in terms of timeline placement.

I actually spoiled myself a bit on Drakengard 3 some time ago and I already know about the final boss. I know many people hated it but I honestly love the idea of this boss. Stuff like this is one of the reasons I like Yoko Taro.
For Automata I'm also expecting some weird genre shifting to occur, I'm almost sure Taro will put something there to particularly fuck with the Platinum action fans. Maybe another text adventure/rhythm game? Or a section that plays like a turn based rpg? Or final boss screwing with 2B's sensors making the final stage work at 10 fps?

Genre shifting's already there to a degree with those pesky robot energy sphere bullets, and the shifting camera angles.

As to crazy ideas... Yeah, Yoko does crazy stuff (a hard rhythm game as the true final boss, a woman whose voice changes defeating higher demos through song, erasing all your game save data to reach the true ending), but he doesn't do things that make the game move slower on purpose, or look like a glitch (so going invisible really doesn't count as anything but mimicking a glitch). And I think he said he wouldn't do the text adventure approach as he doesn't like doing the same thing twice in a row (which for Nier it would be). I'd expect him to throw in incredible and unconventional things. Maybe switch to turn-based as you say, but it could switch to visual novel, or going into first person during a tricky platforming section, or it becoming a survival horror derivative with limited to no weapons and recovery items and enemies that can kill with a single hit.

Also, final boss fiddling with gameplay has already been done with Beyond Good & Evil. No reason for Yoko not to do it for Automata, but...

It was just a random idea, since all the characters are robots various scenarios for screwing with gameplay basically just write themselves. Taro has the balls to put crazy stuff in his games, sometimes not exactly player-friendly (like deleting your save or that rhythm game with visuals throwing the player off). So I wouldn't put something like that beyond him.

And the incredible thing is people love him for it. People like me. Who wish any remake of Drakengard retain all the insanity of its original version, and not be as badly censored as the original PS2 classic
(we can get all that insanity, slaughter, religion, racism, child abuse, incest, cannibalism, pedophilia... gorgeously disturbing when coming off tamer offerings)
