I have to reiterate again that I did enjoy myself, but I can't get past Ravus and Glouca right now.

Glouca should have just been a sentient suit of armor. It makes no fucking sense that Drautos was Glouca. How the hell can someone be the general of one active, conquering army, AND the leader of the goddamn King's guard of the opposing nation. It makes absolutely no goddamn sense, lol.

And Ravus... I'm so glad he has like 45 seconds of screen time, but I want to go find the guy that played him and punch him in the face.
Neither Ravus nor Glauca harbour a strong allegiance to Nifelheim or Lucis.

Ravus hates both Regis and the Empire. When he picks up the ring, he states that he was forced to serve the Empire. Glauca swings for him, as his usurping of the Ring is clearly a hostile act - contrary to Nifelheim plans. If he would have been granted the power of the Lucii he would have killed both Regis and Glauca.

Glauca too states that Niflheim or Lucis do not matter to him, he just wants to save his home.

He states:

"For the pride of my home -I fought and killed for a King I loathe and he still betrayed me." (Or close to that)

The betrayal he is referring to is Regis not saving his homeland - "I don't blame them for taking what was freely given. I blame the man who gave it."

Drautos' home was clearly a Lucian territory beyond Insomnia. When Nifelheim invaded he fought for Lucis - but as no help arrived and Regis hid behind his wall - he felt betrayed.

The Empire has promised his home will be free after the war. He says that Niflheim or Lucis don't matter to him - It's his home he cares about.

This clearly happened well before the events in Tenebrae. He made a deal with the Empire.

Him being an agent behind the wall is the best use for him. The wall is the major problem, they're winning the conventional war comfortably.
As the Kingsglaive is made of refugees - he's perfectly placed. This plan would have took years to pay off - but without it the wall may never have fallen.

Reid's insularity is a cause of major resentment. He hid behind his wall and left those outside it to the fate of Nifelheim. I can understand why people are upset. He's supposed to be the King - their protector. He's the only one strong enough to stop the Empire but he doesn't help. It seems like he is cowering, more concerned with his own son's safety.

There's clearly a reason why he must keep Noct safe. But, without knowing this, Regis can appear cowardly and selfish.

If you're talking about the map in the back, I think you'll have better luck with a direct screen shot, lol.

Whole you're at it, though, just popped because i noticed another Easter egg. In the room where Regis dies, the paintings in the back are from the Duscae artwork. The one with all the summons and stuff. I forget what it's called, lol

I mentioned it in my 'Ask My Abs Anything.' Spectacular!!

It's called Genesis. The painting this time didn't have all the monsters and summons.

Speaking of Easter Eggs: saw the Bank of Spira.
There were tablets called Libratablet - a nod to the ability.

Hi guys, loooooong time no see... I was anxious to talk with someone about the film so I decided to come back...

First of all I think it's honest do agree with the reviews that says that Kingsglaive is not a great movie - for a general audience... But it's a great "Extended CG Opening" for Final Fantasy XV. I think the film has a lot of problems in the pace, edit and construction of most of the action scenes but in other hand I can't see how they could fit all of this conflict inside the game without Noctis taking part - changing the "road trip feeling" they wanted to the game.

I dind't liked the rooftop scene though... I don't know... I felt it a little embarrassing... Every fan of the "Versus XIII" love that scene with Noct and Stella... It was a very important moment in the plot and now It's played by Luna (who some fans hate her because her "stole" Stella place) and Nyx who obviously is not Noctis... And the scene is not important as previously... The Etro painting is there but has no meaning, it's just decorative. I think it was a mistake to put this scene in the movie.

I had high expectations to that scene of the signing of the peace agreement too... But in the end it was just a gun fight when the robots were dropped in the room. I was expecting an epic fight with magic versus guns but Regis created just a shield and meh... I was a bit disappointed because the Versus XIII version looked soo badass...

But the movie has its pro's too. I really enjoyed the Glaives and Nyx is a really good character that could easily be the protagonist of a Final Fantasy game. I could put a lot of a money in a table if Tabata ask it for making a Glaive's DLC for the main game covering the years they served King Regis. The sad part was Crowe abrupt death... What a waste of such a promising character... I was really frustrated by the way she died and how short was her participation in the movie.

I really enjoyed how Nyx teleport with his daggers, they could made warp in the game work like that... Aim anywhere, throw the weapon and appear there instead of looking for specific "warp points" like in the game... This could be used to create a new mechanic in the game, like warping to the air then going down with a strike and etc... But I remember Tabata said they had such a hard time making the warp works, maybe they tried that idea and failed.

About the antagonist's I really liked Ardyn who is such an interesting character. Iedolas was great too, much more than I was expecting him to be. The deception was Ravus with such stupid motivations - hope they fix this in game and I'm a little bit unsure about Glauca... I don't know... I hated his armor design and the motivations are not that great too... I think they lost the opportunity to develop a great antagonist just to have a cliche plot twist. The only good thing is that now that they already used this idea I don't think they will use it again and make Cor Leone a traitor like some people was speculating.

To finish, one last sad thing is there is no mention to Nomura in the credits... They have special thanks even to AFROJACK but not Nomura... Kinda strange.

Honestly, while I do love the scene with Noctis and Stella, especially now that we've seen them have more interaction than adult Noctis and Luna, I don't hate the rooftop scene. But I do think it is an absolute waste as well. I think they put it in as a "treat" for Versus XIII fans, but didn't really that it wasn't the Etro painting or party scene itself that people were interested in.

Kingsglaive came, I think, after Nomura was reassigned. I'm sure Nomura will be given a very special mention in the main credits of the game.

One would hope so. It's actually been a very bad sign that Nomura hasn't even been mentioned once for his involvement with the game. I don't recall them mentioning him at all at the Uncovered: Final Fantasy XV event.

Finished yet yesterday but needed some time for it to sink in and my impression is:

As a stand-alone movie? It doesn't work, it was definitely something that should have been in game so the impact of the whole invasion would sink deeper than the newspaper scene. I liked it as a concept, the whole invasion was very well done and I enjoyed the action sequence. I am still confused about certain things like where was Luna's power as an Oracle and why she wasn't able to do the same things that she was doing against Leviathan. I don't think she was a disappointing character, I liked her for the most part and she does seem like an emotionally strong character.

Nyx and Regis were so great and I enjoyed their scenes a lot, I am sorta hoping we'd see Nyx in game somehow it would such a waste for his character not to be explored further in. He was almost much more interesting that Noctis as a protagonist tbh.

Ravus sucks, I hope I can kick his ass in game, I hate him so much and I am kinda disappointed they made him such an obnoxious little lap-dog.

Ardyn is a cunning bastard and I like it.

Luna didn't have any magic. It was explicitly said so. And as for emotionally strong, that only goes so far when you can't even defend yourself and your deciding that the best decision is to jump out of an airship with no guarantee that you'll make it.

The rooftop scene is actually alright (and visually great), but I understand what some people are coming from, as I feel the same (the setting, however, is miles better).

Similar thing happens during the standoff. But that's about all we can truly compare, as we don't really know much about Versus and we only ever got to see the beginning parts of the game (this is where I feel direct comparisons are fair, because, at least in the standoff scene, they're the same scenes).

I'd take her over annoying Yuna and Rinoa any day, being able to fight =/= a good character Lightning and Serah are a prime example of that. Also, the game suggest that she does have powers at least based on what I saw.

Except she doesn't have powers in the movie and that is what I keep telling you. The movie is out, the game isn't. So trying to argue about how different Luna is in the game isn't going to change any minds because we don't have either the full context or look at if she gained powers along the way.

And as for Lightning and Serah, they've got more character to them than just fighting, such as their devotion to each other and their willingness to help others despite the risks that might happen to them. Lightning was even willing to sacrifice a chance at her own happiness, not because it was her duty to do so, but because she honestly believed it was for the best and that she needed to atone.

It's not Luna's lack of ability to fight that is the problem. It's that she recklessly jumps into danger without a plan just because it's "her duty". It's that despite being described as clever, if she were truly clever, she would have found another way to get Regis and Nyx to help rather than be captured. The fact that Luna has to rely on others isn't the problem either, it's that we're expected to believe that Luna can take care of herself, despite all evidence to the contrary in the movie itself.

And again, I have an entire thread based entirely around Luna's character. If you want to discuss her, why are you not taking it there instead?

You're writing things off again. I am talking about what I saw, and based on what I saw from the VA trailer she was definitely fighting (bruises, causing a blast .. etc) if you don't want to admit this fact then its your choice. Also, I don't need you to tell me what to do. I came here and expressed my feelings about the movie, and Luna is part of the movie and she wasn't the only thing mentioned in my first post either. Whether I want to post in your thread or not that's entirely my choice no need to question my actions :D

You're writing my criticism off as well by saying "Well, she did this in a VA trailer, so she must be able to do it in a movie that she's stated to not be able to do".

Pot calling the kettle black, that's what you are doing.

How am I writing it off? Also, I didn't say that she can use magic in the movie wtf, you're making up stuff now. I was wondering WHY she wasn't able to use the weapon she had in game that CLEARLY has some power and I was wondering about her power as an Oracle because its been stated in numerous interviews that she has the power to hold back the plague of the stars.

You're also being very personal about this jeez just chill out >.>

Because you then deflect it by going "geez, you're taking this personal", maybe that's why I feel like you're writing it off.

I feel like this has been derailed, so I'm going to ask a simple question.

What did you guys think of the Diamond Weapon monsters? Because I honestly hope they are in the game.
